Mathematics

At Letters & Senses, our Mathematics educational therapy utilises the Orton-Gillingham Approach as the foundation and is reinforced by the Concrete-Representational-Abstract Approach. Both are evidence-based approaches to help students with dyslexia grasp Mathematical concepts they might find difficult.

• Concrete: With a variety of manipulatives for hands-on learning to make Mathematical concepts concrete, we take a step-by-step approach to ensure that your child has a firm foundation of every topic taught

• Representational: Once the concrete stage is solidified, we move on to the representational stage

• Abstract: After understanding how models work in the concrete and representational stages, model drawing will be introduced, as the child is now able to transfer the learning to the abstract stage, where they are able to solve problem sums independently

At Letters & Senses, we provide educational therapy for children with dyslexia using the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach.

The OG Approach is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured and sequential way to teach children the English language layers in a way their brains can acquire the skills for reading, writing and spelling. Every lesson is diagnostic and prescriptive to cater to individual's learning needs. More importantly, the OG Approach is emotionally sound – we make learning fun, engaging and meaningful to meet the child where s/he is.

We provide 1-on-1 educational therapy designed to equip children with dyslexia with the skills and tools to become independent learners. During their learning journey, children learn to embrace their learning differences, understand how they process information and that they CAN learn.
